The Philadelphia School System was established in 1997 by Rev. Shakeel Francis. The primary vision behind this school was to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged and needy children in Faisalabad. Rev. Shakeel himself came from a very humble background, where his family struggled to afford even daily meals. His father worked as a driver, and his mother took care of the children in their small, run-down rented house.
However, during those challenging times, an opportunity emerged when a small school offered to educate Rev. Shakeel. Two dedicated teachers taught him primary classes, igniting a passion for education within him. When Rev. Shakeel later received some modest resources, he was determined to open a school to help impoverished families like his own.
Rev. Shakeel’s vision was unwavering, even though the school started with virtually no funds. Today, the school boasts a proper building and enrolls over 550 students, offering education at extremely affordable rates. Many students receive fee concessions, while deserving students receive free education year after year. Numerous students have successfully completed their schooling and have moved on to pursue higher education or secure employment.
The Philadelphia School System stands as a testament to Rev. Shakeel’s dedication and the transformative power of education. It continues to uplift the lives of countless children in Faisalabad, giving them hope and opportunities they might never have had otherwise.

History: How It all started
The Philadelphia School System has a remarkable history that spans over two decades. It was founded in 1997 under the visionary leadership of Rev. Shakeel Francis, with its primary mission always centered on providing quality education and empowering youth at an affordable cost. It is worth acknowledging the significant contributions of two pioneering teachers, Mrs. Rukhsana Albert and Mr. Shahbaz Zaki, who generously volunteered their services to teach at the school without compensation for the initial few months. Their selfless dedication and commitment to the cause of education have played a pivotal role in shaping the school’s success.
In 2003, the school was officially registered as Philadelphia Girls Middle School, with a primary focus on meeting the educational needs of young girls. We must not forget the invaluable efforts of Mr. Khalid Lal, a retired headmaster, who tirelessly worked towards the school’s registration and also served as its principal for several years following his government retirement. Additionally, we express our gratitude to Mr. Shakoor Noor Gill and all other staff members who collaborated diligently for the betterment of the school.
On September 11, 2010, Mr. Adeel Shakeel assumed the role of principal. He is the son of Rev. Shakeel Francis and has tirelessly worked for the school’s improvement. In 2012, through divine providence, the school acquired its own building. However, it soon faced challenges in accommodating boys. Recognizing the importance of inclusivity and ensuring accessibility to all, the school underwent a significant transformation. In 2015, the institution was re-registered as the Philadelphia School System, opening its doors to the admission of boys as well. This change in name and registration enabled the school to provide a comprehensive education to both boys and girls, with a continued focus on affordability.
Despite the hurdles faced along the way, the Philadelphia School System remained resilient. The school owes its success to the unwavering support of its staff, dedicated faculty, and the grace of God. Today, the school stands as a beacon of education, offering quality education at a low fee structure and boasting a robust infrastructure to accommodate its growing student population of almost 550.
The Philadelphia School System continues to uphold its mission of empowering students, preparing them for a prosperous future, and making a lasting impact on their lives. It remains deeply grateful for the support of Rev. Shakeel Francis, the tireless efforts of its faculty, and the generosity of its supporters. With an unwavering commitment to providing quality education at an affordable cost, the Philadelphia School System continues to shape the lives of its students and the community it serves
